School: Teulon Elementary School
During the week of April 11, 2012, students at Teulon Elementary School were busy discussing "Bullying." The Grade 5 and 6 students participated in a program called "Don't Laugh At Me." They created friendship poems, caring beings, and wrote letters of encouragement to their peers.
Each classroom decorated their door in pink and chose a classmate to be an ambassador who would stand up to bullying. On April 11th the entire school body was dressed in pink and most doors were decorated in pink. Each student and staff member signed a pink t-shirt pledging to stand up to bullying. These t-shirts were then pinned to a bulletin board for everyone to see. A brief assembly was held to announce the ambassadors from each classroom.
Throughout this week the following social studies skills were addressed:
S-101, S-102, S-401 all of which focus on considering others' needs as well as interacting fairly and respectfully.
