School: Teulon Collegiate Institute
The Helping Hands Committee of Teulon Collegiate is comprised of
students from grades 7-12. This committee organizes numerous
humanitarian projects each year. Our goal is to help others within our
own community and globally.
Some of the projects during the 2009-2010 school year were as
follows:
HALLOWEEN FOR HUNGER (October) - Collection of non-perishable food items for the Teulon District Food Bank.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD (November) - Organized the collection of shoeboxes to send to children in third world countries.
WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE (December) - for Siloam Mission - hats, coats, mitts, scarves, blankets, boots.
CHRISTMAS CRAFT SALE(December) - Students made and sold Christmas Tree Ornaments to hang on the "memory tree" in our school. All proceeds were donated to Teulon's Palliative Care.
CANFAR "HAVE A HEART" PROGRAM (February) - Collected donations for HIV/AIDS research.
THE RAINBOW SOCIETY (March) - Organized a bake sale and collected donations for the Rainbow Society's 'Wear Green For a Dream' campaign.
NATIONAL DENIM DAY (May) - Bake sale, raffle and donation collection for the CURE Foundation (breast cancer research).
VOLUNTEERING at Siloam Mission (May) - Served lunch to the homeless.
