School: Teulon Collegiate Institute
The Green Team (a student environmental group) at Teulon Collegiate Institute made reusable gift bags to sell at Christmas. Students rounded up recycled fabric from home and from staff members. A few meters of fabric were also bought. Lori and I made patterns for the kids to cut out. The students then sewed the material into reusable gift bags and stockings. The bags were sold the week leading up to Christmas. The profits covered the cost of materials purchased (thread and draw string with a little money left over). The plan was not to make a profit, but to encourage people to use reusable gift wrap rather than wrapping paper.
