To encourage and assist our students in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to be responsible, caring and productive citizens.
The SCI staff established the following goals for 2010/2011:
To enhance student engagement with the installation of multimedia projectors in every classroom and the purchase of five mimio devices to be used by classroom teachers after suitable inservicing.
This ‘new’ technology has certainly changed things in our classrooms! Teachers are able to utilize this technology to bring current information to their students on a daily basis. The mimio devices turn our whiteboards into interactive boards that teachers can use to enhance their teaching.
We look forward to the next few years as more and more teachers become comfortable with this new technology and pass the benefits on to our students!
To increase parental participation at evening sessions offered at SCI including student presentations at PAC meetings, presentations by administration regarding course selection and post-secondary requirements, and a combined AFM/admin workshop for parents regarding current issues related to drug/alcohol use by students and how parents can help their students.
We have had a year full of opportunities for parents! SCIPAC meetings have included student presentations on many of the valuable programs that run at SCI - this is a great opportunity for parents to hear from students. Please join us for a meeting in 2011/2012! Our course selection evening held in March was well-attended and parents were able to pick up valuable information with regard to choosing courses for the 2011/2012 school year and post-secondary information. Our information session for parents regarding current issues related to drug/alcohol use was not very well attended but those that did take the opportunity to come appreciated the opportunity. We will keep trying :)
We have enjoyed the first year with our newly expanded gym!
We look forward to many years of use by students, staff and community!
