ABOUT US
Brant-Argyle School is a K-8
school located in the hamlet of Argyle, Manitoba. 43 students from the
surrounding area attend this unique country school.
The students participate in
extra-curricular activities, such as cross-country running, badminton,
volleyball, cross-country skiing, curling, track and field, as well as the
Rockwood Festival of the Arts. Grad 7-8 students look forward to their
overnight ski trip to Russell every winter. There is a Student Council with
representatives from each class who organize various activities throughout
the year, adding fun to school life for everyone. Throughout the year there
are various fundraisers and social events in which the staff, students, and
parents work together for the common purpose of improving our school.
Students help with the Fall Supper and a donation is given to the students
for their ski trip. We have a Christmas Concert and a Christmas Brunch in
December, A Spring Tea in May, and fun activities on the last day of school.
We have a dedicated Parent Advisory Council, committed to ensuring that our
school has the programs, activities, and resources to provide the best
education possible for our students. This is a school where staff, students,
and community work together to school life as positive as it can be.
Programs implemented over this
school year include Roots of Empathy, Hannah Taylor Curriculum, and
Character Development at every grade level.
Next year we are implementing
Multi-level classrooms, in place of multi-grade, to provide a learning
environment where children of different ages and abilities will work
together cooperatively, practicing skills at different levels, in a safe and
caring environment. The Manitoba Education compulsory subjects will be
taught, as well as Grade 7-8 Life Skills. Brant Argyle is piloting an
outcome based grade 5 report card over the next year. A before and after
school program is being developed and information will be available in
August. Sustainable development projects are being developed and the
integrated subjects will be based on these projects. Agriculture in the
classroom will be expanded as well over the upcoming years.
