Anyone taking a class that requires physical exercise should have a check-up by their physician. Our fitness programs are designed to provide exercise sessions that are both physically challenging and fun for a variety of different fitness levels.

This is a beginners ZUMBA Fitness program (45 m) plus a segment of Toning with weights (15 m).

Zumba is a very dynamic and exciting class full of Latin and exotic music flavors. The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. It targets areas such as glutes, legs, arms, abdominals, and the most important muscle in the body, the heart! It is a mixture of body sculpting movements and easy to follow dance steps, although you do not have to know how to dance to do Zumba. The explosive Latin rhythms create a party like atmosphere that deliver results, as well as a highly motivating workout. Best of all, the moves are easy to follow and fun – the hour class will fly by! Ditch the work out and join the Party !!!

Early Bird Mix

No time in the morning or evening to work out? Try this calorie burning combination class that will target all areas of the body! Get your heart rate up with a 15 min warm-up followed by strength training exercises, yoga poses and Pilates and end with a well deserved stretch. The focus is toning & tightening areas of the body while improving balance, muscle endurance and strength. No prior experience required. Please bring a yoga matt and 5-10 lb weights.

This class is a cardio class without any frills, extras or fancy choreography. In this class, we’ll burn calories and fat in a circuit, boot camp stations, Tabata intervals or kickboxing. Yoga matt required.

W12/16 Heavy Metal Yoga
This is a calorie burning combination of strength training exercises (using weights), yoga poses and Pilates. The focus of this class is toning and tightening all areas of the body while improving balance, muscle endurance and strength. This is not a traditional yoga class. Yoga matt, weights (5-10lb) and resistance band required.

W12/17 Interval Trainer
Cardiovascular training and strength training teamed up to make the perfect calorie burning combination. Cardio intervals will be any combination of low bounce aerobics, step aerobics, kick boxing and / or boot camp combined with resistance training intervals. Although all body parts will be targeted in this class, muscle endurance will be the focus. Yoga matt, weights (5-10 lb ) and a resistance band required.

This one hour calorie burning class will include a variety of cardio and strength training techniques that will challenge your body in a different way every class. Each class will be different and will make use of various equipments such as the stability ball, resistance band, and hand and leg weights. There will be a cardio and stretching/relax component every class. Classes can be adapted for all fitness levels. Bring 3-10 lb (depending on fitness level) hand and leg weights to the first class. .Instructor: Patsy Duncan

W12/19 Ultimate Fitness MIX (Stonewall) (Co-ed ages 16 and up)
Can’t decide? Want to try something fun and challenging? This endorphin-popping class will start with a lively mix of calorie-burning cardio including hi/lo impact aerobics, Zumba®, kick-boxing and/or step aerobics. Then we’ll strengthen the entire body by using “muscle confusion” techniques (which surprise the body for more efficient sculpting) by doing weights and pilates. Finally we’ll lengthen and reward your muscles with yoga-based stretching. So join us for a fun and energetic class for fitness enthusiasts from beginner to advanced. Just bring a water bottle, 3-10 lb hand and leg weights (depending on your fitness level) and a yoga mat. Instructors: Cheryl Kooning and Patsy Duncan.

The Stonewall Co-ed Volleyball Club (for players 18 years and older) plays Monday nights at Stonewall Collegiate. This is a fun and social setting with extra energy and a strong level of play. Walking ( Indoors )
If you are interested in walking indoors when its too cold to walk outside, the hallways at the Collegiates are available to you four nights a week. However, all evening classes held in the schools are cancelled if the schools have been closed during the day for any reason (i.e. storms, holidays – October 11, November 11 and in-services) You must first register through Continuing Education before you’re allowed to participate.
Note: Indoor shoes are required and walking hours are strictly 7:00-8:30 Monday – Thursday

Yoga

 “Restore the body, calm the mind, renew the spirit”
Certified Yoga instructor Heather McDermid has been studying and practicing Yoga, the ancient art of healing, for over 10 years. This traditional style of Yoga is gentle to the body, allowing anyone of any age to practice it. There is an emphasis on the breath, energy and alignment of the body throughout.
**For all classes, please bring a yoga mat, belt, and a couple blocks or pillows. All classes held at R.W. Bobby Bend School – Music Room

Beneficial at anytime during your pregnancy, no yoga experience necessary. Feel more comfort, less pain, with enhanced flexibility, improved strength and stamina. Learn useful breathing and relaxation techniques, which are essential during the labour experience. Modifications to poses will be suggested for any situation.
