W12/28 Simmering Soup, Salads and Homemade Bread!
Who doesn’t love soup! Join Joan Stolar in this 2 evening session and make some simmering soups, delightful salads and top it off with homemade bread!
This is a hands on class. Please bring an apron and containers for possible leftovers!! You will get to dine on the dishes you make and you will also get to take home the recipes! Lab Fee included in registration fee.

W12/29 Sewing for Beginners
During this 6 week session you will make pyjama pants and a denim apron. Techniques learned will be basic sewing and easy pattern cutting and construction. Supply list/cost will be provided before the first class. Instructor: Marcy Harrison.

W12/29A Basic Family Haircutting
This 2 evening haircutting course will enable you to perform basic haircuts with some styling tips included. Little boys cuts will be the focus and trims for boys and girls. A different model is required for each evening. Basic hairstyling kits are available from Walmart and Canadian Tire (kits usually include clippers, scissors, comb, cape )Water sprayer is required as well.

Mukluk OR Moccasin Making
Class includes all instruction on beading and sewing moccasins (slippers) or mukluks (boots). Includes all materials, i.e.: suede, beads, needles, thread, etc. Pick your size, color and design. Patterns will be available. 4-5 weeks for complete moccasins. 7 weeks for mukluks. No experience necessary. Leave with one project, but mukluk participants will learn both.

 Shelemy Arborist Services – specializing in the science of tree care
The following three seminars are taught by a provincially licensed ISA certified Arborist. Guy Shelemy is also a provincially licensed landscape pesticide applicator with a certification in Integrated Pest Management. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of trees and shrubs. These seminars are based on his work with trees in the Interlake.
A ‘hands on’ exhibit is used as a teaching aid for all three seminars and hand-outs are provided.
Take one for $45 - two for $80 or all three for $120

W12/35 Owl Presentation
Come out and get up close and personal with a couple of live owls! Learn about Manitoba owls with biologist and world owl expert Jim Duncan. Using a variety of media, personal owl impressions, owl parts and 'puke' (aka pellets), and Nemo (a male Long-eared Owl) and Archiette (a female Barred Owl), Jim will introduce you to the mysterious lives of these nocturnal creatures. Since 2005 Jim and his owl colleagues have given over 140 owl presentations to over 8,000 people, from pre-school kids to retirees. If you have not seen this presentation come out and see why it continues to be a much sought after experience. Bring your camera or video camera and capture Nemo as he flies over your head.

W12/35 A Making Maple Syrup for fun or profit
The sap is flowing. Do you have a maple or birch tree on your property ? Learn how to make your own syrup from local Manitoba maple and birch trees. Hands-on demonstrations will include tree identification and selection, tapping the tree, boiling off the sap, bottling, storing and how to instructions. Enjoy making your own ‘sweet treat’ – Manitoba Maple Syrup – A taste of Manitoba. Taps will be available for sale following the hands-on presentation. Instructed by certified Arbosist, Ken Fosty.
