PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Spring, we hope is finally here to stay. Even though the winter was mild and we hardly had any snow, everyone has been waiting for the warm weather. We have had an extremely dry playground this spring which has been welcomed by all staff especially our custodians.

April was another active month for all at TES. I am very proud to inform all our readers we had 97% of our student body participate in the Rockwood Music and Speech Festival. Way to go TES students, and staff!! I am so proud of your accomplishments! I appreciate everyone’s hard work and commitment. We have very talented and dedicated children and teachers. Special recognition goes to the Grade 3 students who were chosen by a festival selection committee to perform at the Festival Awards Night on Wednesday, April 25th in Stonewall. Thank you, Mrs. Holod, for all your guidance, leadership and expertise.

The entire school community, especially the students, is busy preparing for Showcase Night. The students are busy selecting work to present that night to proudly showcase their growth and successes. I am looking forward to witnessing the proud faces of both students and parents/guardians. Hope to see you here on the 10th of May.

The school year is quickly coming to an end. Hard work, commitment and fun are on the agenda. Let’s put our best efforts forward. The next two months will be busy with school field trips, Track and Field as well as winding down on extra-curricular activities.

DAY OF PINK

This year Teulon Elementary participated in RBC’s Annual Day of Pink on April 11. The Day of Pink was started as a way to stand up to bullies after a young boy was bullied for wearing a pink t-shirt to school one day. Some of the highlights of the day included the whole school body dressed in pink for our assembly, pink decorated doors, and pledges made by all the students and staff to stand up against bullying. I would also like to acknowledge the students nominated by their peers as shining examples of students who demonstrate kindness and promote a safe and respectful school, they are Kelvyn K (KP), Ayden B. (1T), Abby S. (1K), Liam T.(2S), Amanda G.(2R), Ciera W.(3P), Tristan R. (4MC), Julianne D.(4MR), Vanessa C. (5H), Skylar A. (5B), and Curtis J. (6M). The winners of the decorated door contest were the Kindergartens in the K-3 category and Mrs. Morrison’s Grade 4 class in the Gr. 4-6 category. Next time you’re at Teulon Elementary, stop by our bulletin board to see pictures of the doors, pink t-shirt pledges, and pictures of the students nominated for their part in making Teulon Elementary a safe, bully free place to be.

Thank you to Ms. J. Barten for offering to count and package the bags for us and to Ms. D. Fleury for providing storage space for the bags. We appreciate your help with this worthwhile endeavor.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

To all those who love and support our students each and every day. MOMISMS - that we all said we would never say………..

Here is list of some of the most common and popular momisms. This motherly advise transcends the borders of time, space, language and culture. For kids are kids everywhere and Mom are always Mom...caring, concerned, all knowing and full of love.

Don't make that face or it'll freeze in that position.

Always change your underwear; you never know when you'll have an accident.

What if everyone jumped off a cliff? Would you do it, too?

You have enough dirt behind those ears to grow potatoes!

Close that door! Were you born in a barn?

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Don't put that in your mouth; you don't know where it's been!

Be careful what you wish for, it might come true.

Because I'm your mother that's why.

If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times.

If you fall out of that tree and break your leg , don't come running to me.

I've got eyes in the back of my head, that's how

Bored! How can you be bored? I was never bored at your age.
